This dog is loved!
Let there be no doubt about that.
And he always will be.
My wish is that EVERY dog would be loved like Sammy.

Day 284
Is sammy your dog, Rich? If so, can you tell me a bit about his circumstances? My dog Pumpkin has degenerative myelopathy and she is losing use of her back legs.
Yes Mike, Sammy is my dog. On March 15 we woke up and he was perfectly fine, all four legs functioning, and by the end of the day his back legs had become completely paralyzed. Craziest thing I’ve ever seen.
Initially we thought he had a spinal injury of some kind, but a few days later he got sick and we discovered that he had a life threatening infection, which shortly thereafter turned into an open gaping wound. After much research, we are now convinced he was bitten by a brown recluse spider.
Now it’s 4 months later, and we’re still trying to get that awful wound healed. As far as his legs go, he does have some strength and feeling in them, and seems to be progressing incrementally, but at this point we’re not sure how much function he’ll regain. Time will tell, I suppose.
Really sorry to hear about what’s going on with Pumpkin, Mike. You might look into some wheels. I could certainly let you know where we got Sammy’s wheels. They seem to be a reasonably priced and quality operation.
Wow, that is not a great story Rich, but it sounds as if Sammy is getting better, even if it’s a slow improvement. You have all been through some agony and I can only imagine the cost involved. One moment all is well, the next moment some chance encounter floors you. Life is like that. I am ambivalent about the wheels for Pumpkin but yes, do tell me where you got Sammy’s. Please know that I will send some positive energy your way and tell Sammy he is lucky to have you in his life. Thank you.
I really appreciate the encouraging words Mike. Thank you.
We got his wheels from K9 Carts ( http://www.k9carts.com ) They’re on Whidbey Island, in Washington state.
Thanks again.
Thanks Rich.
Its my wish too Rich! 🙂
